Sudden awareness of norms when traveling
We are often unaware of the cultural norms of our own society until we visit another country. When you first visited another country did you have any experience that suddenly made you aware of a norm you hadn’t realized you held? Describe this experience and the norm involved.
travelling to United States specifically Miami i noticed that alcohol and guns are sold broadly in stores even though they have restrictions it was just surprising to physically see such things. when i went to Turks And Caicos majority of rules that we have down here were legal up there such as drinking and driving, smoking, not wearing seat belts, no speed limit, age for purchasing things etc... first of all the polices down there are so chilled they hardy check for those things and if they were to stop you it would be for an accident, having said that the islanders would laugh if i'm wearing my seat belt or if i act surprise at anything in general. St. Martin on the other hand everyone was so friendly because we are taught not to talk to strangers in our society it was the rudest thing to ignore someone down there.
