Culture is a result of evolutionary change. Yes some cultures may be VERY different from others. Being of Greek decent in addition to being raised in Greece I do notice differences when interacting with my Canadian raised and heritage friends. The idea of bringing your own alcohol to a party is not something I was used to from back home, as the host provides everything "treating" their friends since it is their birthday/celebration etc.
Therefore with this simple examples culture is an evolution since it is always changing in Greece 30 years ago women still only wore pants. It's always changing and always adapting to the social norms and needs of its audience.
Genes and cultures do in turn affect each other with the following being an explication as to why,
In terms of evolution with the "survival of the fittest" ideology, we choose traits that are more likely to be passed on withstanding our culture and environment. However, biologically there are predisposed adaptive traits that each individual is born with. As we adapt into society we change and grow with our culture. In such societies there are norms and expectations which are set by those living within that society. As we intigrate into our societies of choice we are "forced" in order to be accepted as seen as one of the group to adopt the norms and conform to the society's way of working.
Affect comes in because biologically, we are born with certain attributes and evolutionary survival traits to our genetics. We are born with morality, survival instincts, survival knowledge, emotions etc, these are predisposed attributes of evolution survival. However, as we begin to assimilate within our societies we begin to adapt to the belief system, functions and structure of that society
