Moghaddam is suggesting that language is not only used to describe or explain, but that it holds shared meanings in a society due to similar experiences. To a social constructionist, language shapes peoples thoughts and perceptions. They describe language as a warped and coloured lens that determines how we see the world around us.Therefore, “those who control language also have the power to control how social reality is constructed”. For example, the example described in the text is the word privacy. It may be a commonly used word in the English language , but in another language there may not be a word that translates to privacy in English. However, this does not mean that they don’t have the same word to describe privacy but maybe that the individuals in the non-English speaking country do not share the same experience where they would put such emphasis on a word such as privacy
