When I visited Australia a few years ago, I noticed that when people passed by one another, they were not very friendly. Whether this was on the sidewalk or in a park when taking a walk. People didn’t really look at the other individuals or say hello to them. I had this experience as I was exploring the different cities that I visited. I realized then that I noticed this because this was different from what I see in Canada. I feel that the norm here is that we greet one another. When I go out on a walk, I will smile if not say hello to the person passing by, and I have experienced others doing the same. I was not completely aware of being friendly towards others passing by, the norm, until it was not happening around me. Despite, Canada and Australia being very similar, I was surprised to notice this difference.
