Social constructionism is a school of thought pertaining to the ways social phenomena are created, institutionalized, and made into tradition by humans. For example, the social construction around university students is that they are going to graduate and have a higher paying job than those who did not go to school. However, this is not the case and there are many social constructions which are not realistic just like this one.
Social constructionsim is related to individualism because society places people in different "groups" based on gender, sexuality, and race. Within these "groups" it is further broken down each person will relate differently to these groups as no one is similar. For example, if we were to look at Cattell's 16 personality factors among these socially constructed groups, there may be similarities but individually each person will be different as they will be different personality factors.
