Feelings emerge when the sheer accumulation of mapped details reaches a certain stage. At a "critical pitch", the process is felt due to an ongoing homeostatic process.
There is a general object (body) with many parts (substrates) mapped in many brain structures. The contents are varied body states representing maps along a range of possibilities.
Feelings are not just thoughts with themes. They are functionally individualistic and distinctive. Their essence consists of thoughts that a represent a body involved in a reactive process. Without this essence, the notion of feeling vanishes.
We would go from i "feel" happy to i "think" happy.
