I believe Damasio does leave some room to talk about feelings in a non biological way. Damasio elucidates many of the biological mechanisms he believes to be involved in emotion and feeling, for instance, the triggering and execution of emotion, and the sensing of the body’s state through the somatosensory areas of the brain. However, he does not describe how the neural changes that take place in the process lead finally to the mental realm, explaining that the biology here is not yet understood. Here, there may be some room for non biological psychological processes.
