Mood differs from the concepts of emotion and feeling as it is associated with a longer period of time. A mood can last for a few hours, a few days or even a week. It is when an emotion lasts for a long time, or when a given emotion is repeated often. Mood does not change quickly, whereas emotions and feelings change more often. It is an emotion that is present for longer time periods. Emotions are a physiological change to an emotionally competent stimuli and feelings are the mental reaction to the physiological change. Moods can occur from the environment and others around you. An example of a mood is being optimistic and some emotions associated with that would be happiness, contempt, joy and hope. The feelings associated with it are the recognition of relaxed breathing and muscles.
