Our life experiences and the situations that we are in will cause emotions and feelings in us which can affect our decision making. Decision making is the cognitive thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. When trying to make a good decision, a person must weight the positives and negatives of each option, and consider all the alternatives. Emotions are essentially shortcuts built by the brain to generate feelings on subjects, which then guide decisions and actions.
An example of this has been experienced during my soccer games where our team gets really upset when we are loosing or not having the best game. During these moments, us player let the emotions get the best of us which leads to not making good decision to change the outcome of the game.
