Decision Making refers to the cognitive process resulting in a choice. We all have different preferences ass to how we move through this process. We refer to the knowledge we have of these choices including:
1. The specifics of the problem, and the good and bad aspects of the facts
2. Which decision we make to solve it, which one provides a better outcome
3. Considering the outcome, what the consequences were
4. Emotional outcome, how it affects feelings
In a negative situation, we often choose the outcome that gets rid of that feeling quickly. If it’s the opposite positive feeling we often work to prolong it.
When I was at the University of Windsor, I was forced to move out of my residence building due to my roommate breaking the rules. The staff convinced me that me moving out was the better solution. I thought the consequences were that I’d be happier. I was unhappy which affected my emotions for the rest of the year, and I eventually decided to transfer.
