Damasio says that Spinoza recommended that "the achievement of a contented life" comes in the form of a system for ethical behaviour and prescription for a democratic state (the laws and procedures apply equally to all citizens). Biology can be connected to evolution and the achievement of a contented life through the idea of "yearning" (pg. 269).
Yearning is a deep trait of the human mind and is rooted in the design of the human brain and the genetic pool. It is also connected to the deep traits that drive us with great curiosity towards a systematic exploration of our own being and the world around it. These traits cause us to construct explanations for objects and situations in the world.
In short, in order to achieve a contented life we must yearn for it.

Hi
nice work and explanation. I like how you provided a definition first then explain the concept. My only suggestion is to give abit more supporting reasoning behind the two concepts you mentioned above.
Thanks, Ali
