One such phenomenon would be attachment. Though attachment is a dadic phenomenon, happening between two people, psychologists have reduced the phenomena to the level of individuals, focusing in particular on the child or infant. For example, Harlow did not study how mother and baby chimps together formed an attachment bond, but instead looked only at attachment behavior in baby chimps, studying aby chimps in the context of ‘wire mothers’ and ‘cloth mothers’. Instead of studying attachment from the point of view of the infant, psychologists could have studied attachment in the contet of how both parties are involved in the forming of the bond.
