When we look at the context of what Damasio was saying, his goal was to try and show us that the mind is not some kind of stand alone complex, that is it intimately tied to the body, and that in actuality it was made for the body. Many people like to see the mind in the extreme version of aspect dualism, almost as if the mind and body-proper are so far removed from each other that there only connection is that people possess both. Damasio's verbiage is necessary to atomize the idea that the mind is made for the body; its goal is the representation of the body; and that the other -- albeit extremely useful -- things the mind can do are just the consequences of the minds purpose, which again is to create mental images of the body.

Hi,
Nice work and explanation. Keep up the good work. I see that you have a good grasp of the concepts. Perhaps it would be helpful if you could break the above discussions into separate sections. What i mean by this is to first define or explain what stance does Damasio take on the concept of Mind-body problem. Then present your supporting reasonings. This produces a more stronger answer and logical argument.
