Damasio describes the ophiocoma wendtii as a “brittle star” that flees from an approaching predator, seeking refuge in rocky caves and crevices. He uses this animal to illustrate the genealogies of the body to nervous system signaling on the basis of which body-to-mind influences can be understood (Damasio, 2014). He goes on to explain how the retina and the human eye acts the same way similar to the ophiocoma wendtii. This works as such, the specialized part of the body is modified and the result of the modification is transferred to the central nervous system. (Damasio, 2003)
He summarizes, that background emotions and the related moods also are heavily influenced by overall exposure to light in terms of hours and intensity. The cells slowly and calmly they respond like the light meters we use in photography. (Damaico, 2003).
This was a complex comparison for me to wrap my head around. I am looking forward to reading other answers and feedback.
