Damasio points out that in Spinoza’s mind-body problem that the 2 are deeply connected. The mind is meant to do the ground work, and the body grounds itself in the mind. Both have important, specific roles that label the subject and the observer. These make up our perception. Biologically, we can feel hungry, but that process doesn’t really involve our mind. I’m sure that there are many times that we’ve all forgotten to eat, only to be reminded later. These types of tools can be used to describe internal/external factors.
