Mere puppets as described by Berger and Luckman are when individuals follow "unwritten rules of society". Some examples of mere puppets would be following fashion trends, not stopping in the middle of a busy side walk, driving in-between the lines on a highway or any road . Whereas, free agents are when individuals are not restricted or constraint to rules.
An example of free agents would be an individual travelling to a new country where they are not restricted to act a certain way because they are not from that country and are not familiar with the norms of that country.

Good explanations, but can you think of an example of where one would be both a free agent and a puppet in the same context.
