Social constructionism: light and dark

Light social construction focuses on interactions and involves agency. Relationships are very important along with the conversations in which the individual speaks and relates to others and the meaning making that occurs. An individual is able to make meaning in conversations and act on that meaning. Want to undermine the traditional psychology idea of all answers being present inside of the individual and instead place the focus on relationships. Interactions between individuals are more important than the minds of the individuals alone because new meanings arise from the interactions. We would not have been able to predict the new meaning by looking at the individuals alone. One is able to make their own interpretation of meaning.
Dark social construction on the other hand is deterministic. It is causal, and views the individual as mechanistic and not having agency. One is not able to act on the meaning, despite seeing it. The person is the subject and does what the discourse presents or an ideology forces on them. People are passive and not in control, they are puppets of forces that they are unable to control.
