A psychological phenomenon for example displaced aggression, I believe a psychologist would take an atomistic approach. In order to understand displaced aggression, you’ll have to grasp an understanding of the various factors in which this phenomenon can be triggered. Also, you will have to understand the various ways in which displaced aggression can be manifested. Whether or not the individual will outright confront the source, confront someone of lower power, and or perhaps, find a more subtle approach. There are many factors in which can influence the way displaced aggression can be manifested, I believe this phenomenon requires an analysis of basic factors of displaced aggression and a combination of mental processes in order to understand the whole (understanding the parts is needed to understand the whole).

I can see your answer. However, can you directly explain why the approach to studying aggression is atomistic and/or individualistic? I can see that aggression can be displayed in many different ways; however, how does this relate back to the question? You need to make this connection.
