The logic behind the "rouge test" is that it's a test to self-recognition and self-awareness. This test is done on infants. Infants over the age of 18 months old will be able to recognize themselves and the red dot on their one in the mirror. However, those under the age of 18 months would not be able to recognize the self. This test is shown to be reliable because when results come back they keep the same positive results all the time. However, I would say that this is not very reliable because infants younger than 18 months can still have a developed self and awareness or the other way around infants over 18 might not be as developed.
