3. Moghaddam introduces the idea of “carriers” within meaning systems as a suggestion for why certain behaviour patterns might occur or persist over time (even when people have considerable degrees of freedom about how to behave). Meaning systems can often be summarized in terms of certain beliefs and values, and these are sometimes symbolized by carriers. Propose an example of something you think might constitute a meaning system and an example of a carrier of this meaning system.
In my opinion a Cross is a carrier and one of the main things that constitute a meaning system in this world. In that according to a Christian, It will remind him of Jesus and how he was crucified and suffered for the sake of the whole earth. Whereas, according to a Jew, it might mean nothing but merely a guy or some refer to him as a false prophet. While, from a Muslim perspective Islam represents Jesus as a messenger from God who told people to worship one God as the messengers before did. Thus, a person walking by and seeing a cross has a different believe and thinking about what it represents.
Another example of a carrier is wearing a big gold chain with gold rings and braces.
For some, it will represent the person as being very rich and some might think about the way he got rich by. However, others might think he is just a guy who like to show off. Some might also think that he’s just a prey and they go and rob him. Our brains are very different genetically, but we are all the same because it’s our tool that we think with.
