The natural attitude Butt says that our observations, interpretations, and actions with respect to others (and to the world in general) "are infused with the natural attitude of our time" (p. 111). Explain what this means and give some examples to illustrate it.
The natural attitude that Butt offer is essentially a social constructionist's view that implies that behaviours and meaning attachments that an individual has developed are conditioned by the individual's social context. Because in this way of thinking, we inherit our perspectives from society, certain situations or objects, or combinations of both have the ability to have shared meanings and associations that are comprehensible by most or all members of a society. This social knowledge is so absolutely accepted in a society that the information, although perhaps untrue or politically based may viewed as fact.
An example of this would be homosexuality. Homosexuality was deemed "unnatural" because it goes against what was considered biologically "natural". It was even considered a mental illness. However, in 2017, homosexuality is something that our society is more respectful of, and it is something that many North American communities celebrate.

Hi,
Nice work and Explanation. Keep up the good work. Can you elaborate more on the concept of how ideas or values we hold as natural are influenced or not influenced as result of social constructionism.
Other than that, good work. keep it up
Thanks Ali
