Joint Action is used to describe a collaborative action involving more than one agent. This is most commonly seen in everyday life even in a conversation between 2 people. An important aspect of this is creating a shared meaning making process. This often happens naturally and organically in response to an unexpected stimulus. (if someone were to react if you scared them). The reaction must be appropriate for the action. If someone were to tell me that someone close to me passed away vs. if they told me a joke, my reaction would be totally different. A shared meaning process is only made of course if 2 parties are involved. If I pass a driving test and the examiner smiles and tells me congratulations. If I fail, the reaction wouldn’t be appropriate. Then my job would then be on me to depend how I exit. If I pass, I’m happy, if I fail I could be sad, angry or any other emotion which would be a meaningful action.
