After completely understanding the concept of normative and causal science approach, I think both are equally as important in the field of psychology. Humans and their emotions are sometimes hard to understand, so studying them in an normative approach may not have the most accurate result. Human emotions are complex, and they go deeper than the surface. Therefore, we cannot solely depend on data or facts, it is highly important to look at the bigger picture. For example according to Sigmund Feud, our personalities include many components such the ego, id, and the superego. He suggests that human personalities include more than one aspect. Therefore, in my opinion using a normative approach to study human behavior and mental processes would be nothing but scratching the surface. However, I would personally choose to take a normative approach, because I am a science student and i like to work with facts rather than theories.
