Damasio suggests that there are certain requirements that an organism must meet in order to experience feelings.They must have a nervous system that is able to map body structures and states which includes brain and consciousness.The neural map into the body map and structures must be transformed into mental images and the brain must be aware of changes.The organism must have a body and conscious and be conscious of feelings and be aware of feelings.There must be a representation of a connection between these feeling and evolution because feeling comes through evolution and not every organism possesses these qualities.Feelings helps us to recognize body state and there was no feelings we would not have a brain machinery that is needed to regulate the body state to activate our emotions and in extension ; no feelings.
