Butt explained the case study of Schneider, a veteran that served in the World War. After the war he was unable to locate himself within time and space. When he was asked to touch his nose, he did not know how or where to touch, however, when his nose was tickled he immediately scratched it. Butt explains that the body is a pre-reflexive that is able to reflect on his or her actions and behaviour. But, in Schneider's case, he is unable to reflect on his past, present and future self, which makes it difficult for him to create schemas and meaning systems.
