Achieving and constructing individuality
Butt says, "We are part of other people - in internal relations with them. Our individuality is an achievement and a construction, not a given" (p. 119). Explain your understanding of the meaning and significance of this quotation.
We are all products of constructs. All individuals are related to each other for we share norms and values of society in the process of interaction/ discourses. we are also considered part of other individuals because of the pre-reflexive interactions and meaning that we do when we interact. We come to understand other people deeper because we can interpret the intention, situation and expressions of others that shows a glimpse of their identity as person.
