Damasio shares Spinoza's dualist view that mind and body are, in fact, different aspects of the same thing, rather than two totally separate entities. He uses a double-sided coin to illustrate this idea. Damasio shares that the body is grounded by the mind which is always prepared. The way that our body acts and reacts to our surroundings is the effect of our mind processing the surrounding by receiving sensory information and turning it into mental images and feelings that our body can process and convey.
