A situation that has many choices of freedom is waiting in line. This could be in line for Tim Hortons, movie, washroom, etc.
Individuals follow the norm which is to wait in line quietly until it is your turn to order or go. This is called the social norms and are unwritten rules during those situations. Some other choices that may occur are be dancing, yelling, bud the line. Let's take someone who buds the line. It is frowned upon to do this actions. Other humans give mean looks and talk about that person but this may not always be the case. Other times people will speak up and call them out on it making them feel ashamed and scared because we never know what anyone else may do if we step outside the normal parameters. This is a huge reason of why we do not go against the norm. This feeling of guilt, and having our own safety at risk. This is part of the culture in society. We must behave a certain way to in order to fit in and get a long with different people. For my example this culture is stating to keep to yourself until it is your turn to talk and if someone goes against this culture there will be consequences which may differ depending on who is around because there is no rule of what the consequences for cutting the line.
Let's take the same example and change from one person doing it to a group bigger then the major of the people cutting the line. In this sentence a bigger group went against the norm and changed the culture around it. They embraced their own culture into the society and because the majority did it. There was intimidation towards everyone else to let them do what they want without consequences.
Usually that is what social culture is. The social norms of a population meaning the majority of people setting and constantly changing the social norms day by day.
