I am a tennis coach, I work with young children who often fall a lot due to their lack of coordination and balance. Once a child falls they get extremely scared and start to cry. At first I would comfort them and ask them if they were okay, but this made them cry even more, thinking they were in greater danger. I later realized that you have to build up their confidence saying something like: "Wow were you trying to fly", they instantly stop crying and feel better about themselves. The placebo effect helps a lot at my work, especially with younger children.
