the id - the id is almost like the devil on your shoulder. representing deep desires (that may be sexual) that a person may not be entirely proud of and therefore suppress and aggression. This is the "me" side of a person, being more selfish/self-involved.
the super ego- the super ego, opposite to the id is like the angel on your shoulder, and has also been referred to me as our conscience. This part has internalized societies norms and values which translates into what behavior may or may not be appropriate to express. Considering the super ego is more involved with doing the "right thing", it is constantly in conflict with the ID, who thinks and desires for itself.
the ego - the ego is almost like the person in the middle of the devil and angel on the shoulders; With consideration to both personal desires and what is morally correct, the ego works to find a middle ground in which both could potentially be satisfied/addressed. Although the conflict between the ID and Super Ego could never actually be resolved, the Ego forever holds responsibility as the mediator.

I had never thought of them as the devil v.s angel dynamic good analogy! I just went with something a TA told me once "the ID is...well the ID, its just there, its the baby inside that wants to shove everything in your mouth, for no reason other then it just WANTS TO, it wants what it wants, no one knows why and of course by extension its what you want deep down". Then the superego...I am not sure if I want to say its your conscience, simply because (as I have learned I could be wrong, I studied some social science where they like Freud) the Super Ego I see more like a cop, representing society's judgement calls, all the customs, taboos and other social stuff not in a "hey, you shouldn't steal someone's food, even if your really hungry". I've seen it more malicious, something like "HEY WEIRDO! ARE YOU WORKING OUT IN A GYM? NO? JUST WANT TO WATCH TV? WELL TOO FREAKING BAD, NOW GET OFF YOUR BUTT OR DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO LOOK AT YOUR BEER BELLY YOU LAZY SLOB!". Yeah not really moral, more like judgements calls on everything you do 24/7. The Ego! Poor soul...yeah the mediator, the referee that tries to appease both sides. The ID wants something, super ego is the all watching eye of society ready to wreck your day! The Ego? I like to see it as "okay...how do I get X without getting myself disowned by society, killed or drive myself insane trying to get it". The fun world of our minds everyone! Again, liked the analogy of Angel vs Devil... just not exactly sure I want society to be an angel...after all...wanting chocolate ice cream when I should be reading...not exactly the epic battle of good v.s evil, although tempted to steal food would line up more with the analogy
