Yes, I believe the placebo effect can influence the performance of the second game. First of all, because the first child didn't wash his clothes with soap, the child already had a positive attitude and the confidence to play well. Unlike the second child who did wash their socks, the child felt very down and was feeling negative towards the second game because he knew from the beginning it could be bad luck. The placebo effect always influences the performance of a game because if a player is not confident from the start, automatically their performance changes. Confidence and positive attitude play a huge role in a game and in the beginning if you don't have that, it could change how you play. I think, the placebo effect is not a good way to analyze the situation because it could all be in your head when it comes to being negative/ positive in your performance.
