Provide an example of an everyday situation not mentioned by our authors that you think could be analyzed as an example of operant conditioning. What is the behaviour (the operant) being conditioned? What is the reward or negative stimulus involved? Does the situation involve positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, or punishment? Do you agree that most learning is a product of conditioning rather than a product of cognitive process that take place in the situation?
Operant conditioning is a type of learning through consequences of its behaviour. A real life example of an everyday operant conditioning can be going to your job. The reward is getting a paycheck which is associated with a positive stimulus. Receiving a raise due to an outstanding performance is a positive reinforcement. I do not agree with most learning being a product of conditioning, because I think it's 50:50. We would've never came close to being on the top of the food chain if we are mostly conditioned. We have the ability to condition other species and this would be impossible if we didn't have cognitive processes.
