In this situation, the UCS is the puff of are which causes the UCR which is the rabbit blinking. The researchers used a loud tone as the CS stimulus in this experiment by sounding the tone when the UCS is happening-- causing the UCR. The researchers were able to cause a CR through this method-- the rabbit began to blink when the tone was sounded regardless of whether the air was puffed into its eye. To reverse this CR, I would have to continuously cause the CS- sounding the tone- separately from puffing air into the rabbits eye- UCR. This would hopefully cause the rat to stop associating the UCR with the CS.
