Parents sometimes kiss the wounds of their children while saying "let me kiss it better" to make their children think that their kiss, although having no real effect on the healing of the wound, will make them feel better. Often, the child will instantly stop crying and feel better.
Similarly, I would experience the placebo effect when I was a child when I would have a stomach ache. I was told that if my parents were to rub my belly my stomachache would go away. I trusted and believed the word of my parents which made this placebo have a positive effect on my pain, even though there was no real correlation.
