Explain in what way Vygotsky’s concept of the social and of the environment involves meaning systems (beliefs, values, expectations, norms, etc.).
Vygotsky believed people working together generates thoughts, feelings and situations that they would not make on their own. To comprehend the situations as a group, it involves collaborative construction, build meanings to situations they (the group) are in. As a group of people interpreting the same situation, shared meanings would be vital. Shared meaning could include beliefs (i.e. spiritual/religious), values , societal norms and expectations of those within the group. When people of different cultures or meaning systems come together there can be arguments about what is correct and how the situation should be interpreted.
