Schema is an organization of past experiences which allows you to take mental short-cuts when you are processing information. An example we used during lecture was the 'Paris' reading. We all read out-loud the phrase presented in the triangle but didn't notice that there were two 'the's' in the phrase. Our brains just filtered out the second 'the'.
Schema is a cognitive concept rather than a behaviourist one because it is mentally developed and does not require experience.
