Play is a form of guidance that essential in a child's growth. Through imitation and creating imaginary situation they can acquire new insights and knowledge about their surroundings. This enables them to unravel opportunities and extend themselves in behaving above their normal level of development. As a child continuously engage in playing, it helps in developing competencies to address and face future challenges and adversities. Moreover, play strengthens the child's social skills, through collaboration with other peers and learning different kind of skills (expression of emotions, learn negotiation and treating other people with equal dignity and respect), needed for their growth and development. Through playing, the child may feel sense of accomplishment and sense of self that will help them to attain progress as they grow older. A good example of play in my experience is when I played a game called "Bahay-Bahayan" when I was a child. Back when I was 5 or 6 years old, my playmates and I would usually play this game. This game is about children acting as a family and play roles of a father, mother, child, aunts and uncle, etc. As I grow older, I learned that through playing wholesome growth and development of a child can be achieved.
