A. Self reports from the persons being assessed have factors that might limit its reliability and validity. Such as, participants will want to manage how they appear therefore this will lead to dishonesty. On the other hand even though a participant is trying to be honest, they may lack the introspective ability to provide an accurate response. Furthermore, participants may also lack understanding or interpretation of particular questions. As for online questionnaires, there is no way for the participant to ask the researcher for clarification as to the meaning of various questions, hence reliability and validity are a significant issue.
B. If I had to argue for the superiority of one of these methods over the others, I would choose reports from close friends and relatives of the person being assessed. This is because, there may be more reliability and validity since the person feels more comfortable sharing how they actually feel as they have known them for a long time. As well as, being able to judge them in situations. However, their reports might be biased, as they would not want their family or friends to perceive a negative image of them or change how they feel about them. Moreover, they would still have the better idea to the person's actual personality.
