A. Choose one of the three methods of personality assessment listed below and indicate what factors might limit its reliability and validity.
B. If you had to argue for the superiority of one of these methods over the others, which one would you choose and why?
1. self reports from the persons being assessed
2. reports from close friends and relatives of the person being assessed
SELF-REPORT
A) There are many reasons why an individuals information on a self-report wouldn't be as accurate when being assessed because one, ever human has told a "white lie"... its not necessarily a bad thing, its to boost our ego e.g resumes or when going for an interview, we are tough to talk highly of ourselves. another would be that individual may not feel 100% comfortable answering questions that may be personal or generally makes them feel less than others so commonly individuals would select another answer to avoid inner feelings/thoughts/ experiences/insecurities etc.. this also ties with moods which reflects on how your entire day would go..
FAMILY/FAMILY FRIENDS
B) i feel like its kind of the same outcome as a self-report because your family/friend no matter the situation, they will always talk highly of you...in a way it reflects back on them as an alter ego. it can also be vice versa where family/friend wouldn't really know the inner you meaning they don't know how you really feel what you've experienced what your true insecurities are therefore they reflect on what they think they know and what you show them. so yes a friend or family would be the most reliable method.
