For my opinion, report from close friends and relatives of the person being assessed is the most reliable in measuring personality traits. Self report could be distorted by himself or herself because he or she might not to show his or her negative traits. On the other hand, researcher might gather less distorted traits of subject from his or her friends and relatives because there is no reason not to talk his or her negative traits.
