The logic behind the "rough test" is to test self recognition and awareness of an individual. The test could also recognize a cognitive development and show the development of the mind of an individual. This test could be reliable and/ or valid because for example, children at a young age are not able to express their emotions properly, therefore this test can show their cognitive development. Another reason why this test might not work as well is because the tests might not be reliable. For example, this test could not be reliable because a child could have a disorder when they are younger but the disorder might not be detected as fast and it could happen when the child gets older. This is why the rouge test could be a reliability and validity test, we do not have any hard evidence or a theory behind it if this is true or not.
