The difference between sex and gender is that sex is biological and gender is cultural. The relevance of this distinction to Psychologist is that by distinguishing the difference it can strengthen their studies and experiments accordingly depending on the degree of freedom between the two. Gender identities are constructed because of the culture/societal norms that are set and expected between male and female and what is considered masculine and feminine.
