Sex is the biological aspect where a boy has a male reproductive system and female have female reproductive system. Gender on the other hand is the social constructed aspect where through time you get to know your gender. For example as a boy, from young age i have been always told that men are the aggressive ones, men don't were pink, etc. All of these are socially constructed over time. When a boy doesn't stick to those "constructed guidelines" he is looked at as being soft or feminine. another example is wearing tight jeans. But It is also important to look at it from a cultural perspective. For instance, in my home country i Africa many males wore tight jeans, infact those who wore baggy jeans where picked on or made fun of. On the other hand in Canada, it seems that people wearing tight jeans are the one who are looked to as being soft.
“gender identities are constructed” means that society has put in my brain what my expected role is to be as a male for instance.
