Working in retail one of the stores I worked at as a seasonal sales associate had decorative glass spheres that hung from the ceiling there must have been at least 50 if not more tennis ball sizes glass ornaments hanging from thin wire. The ceiling was roughly 9-12 feet high so I was asked to use a latter by my manager (authority) however getting up onto the latter half way I noticed the floor was uneven and I was left alone in the store so if anything was to happen no one would be there to help me or call for help. Knowing that NO ONE liked cleaning/dusting those glass spheres I politely told my manager that I was not going to do it because of the safety risk that came with it and explained the reasons. She agreed and got her husband to come in with a better latter to do them after with her. The task that was asked of me was out of my ZPD and unsafe so I did not want to risk it. At that place of employment there was also a phone at the back with a private no caller id anonymous hotline that you could report issues to the main office to (I obviously never did because I didnt get fired or have a problem with my manager of this issue but had there been I would have called)
