In this study the norms that came through were the enforcement of authority by the guards (in their appearance of wearing a uniform and sun-glasses so that their eyes are not visible as well as in their behaviour) and the prisoners of abiding to the authority and the prison rules (the feeling of being trapped inside a cell, uncomfortable chains to remind them even when they sleep that they're in a prison) The behaviour of the guards and the prisoners could be easily predicted from the Milgram studies, where the guards would probably defend themselves by saying they were just doing their job, however in my opinion they have also enjoyed it in some sense as they were in a place of power which in turn corrupted them, after the research had been stopped only 3 days after it had began while it was planned for 6, the guards were upset that it didn't go on till the end while the prisoners were glad to be out.
