The difference between the concept of sex and the concept of gender, is that the concept of sex is biological, and the concept of gender is cultural. Also, sex and gender are not pure categories. An individual’s sex is determined by his or her biology, but it does not always correspond with his or her gender. Furthermore, the distinction is relevant to Psychologists because it helps identify and study intersectionality of the genders. The meaning of "gender identities are constructed" is that we have gender ideologies of how to be. We take gender on as a truth. For example, male and female washroom signs are symbols of gender ideologies. Furthermore, in sports gender is embedded. In the sport lacrosse males wear protective gear, in the thought that they are suppose to have more aggression and violent encounters during the game. On the other hand, females only wear a mouth guard and a skirt because they are seen as naturally inferior and more feminine. It is evident, that gender is socially constructed. Consequently, production of how to be male and female or masculine and feminine becomes a profit. Exaggerated femininity is organized around compliance with gender inequality and oriented to accommodating desires of men. Women are considered to be weak, passive, and exist to be in the service of men. Therefore, marketers greatly benefit from this. For instance, make-up is a multi-billion dollar industry. As well, there is a large industry of hair products for men. Overall, marketers are the biggest producers and profiteers.
