Describe the logic behind the “rouge test” and the purposes for which it has been used by psychologists. What would it mean to. say that the test was reliable and valid? Can you see any reasons to suspect that it might lack either reliability or validity?
The logic behind the "Rouge Test" is to test self-recognition and self-awareness. The test was done on 18 month old children. A mark is applied on the child so that they can see their reflection in the mirror. Then they are carefully monitored to see if the child detects the mark before entering the testing room and see their reactions. Validity refers to the accuracy of a test and how well it measures what is being tested. Reliability refers to testing if there are consistence results. The Rouge test may not be reliable or valid in determining a child level of self-recognition.
