When I visited Costa Rica for the first time I've noticed many cultural differences for example: there is no age restriction for drinking alcohol, the people are more friendly, there is no military and Costa Ricans believe in "pura vida" which means pure life. They also take good care of their environment and praise all life including insects and animals. The lifestyle there is more permissive than Canada. Here in Ontario our education system starts at pre-school and in Costa Rica the poverty rate is significantly high. Therefore not many children can attend school due to the low-income. The norm in Costa Rica is to enjoy and relax and in Canada I felt that it was more congested by industrial corporations in a sense that Canadians are occupied by their work life. In addition locals in Costa Rica are surrounded by paradise however many cannot provide for their own families because they often struggle with making money. Especially in the small town where I've been called tamarindo the people called "tikis" sell local goods on the street for tourists to buy from.
