Moscovici made a clear distinction between conversion and compliance in that, majority groups force compliance by pressure and power, whereas minority groups influence conversion through persuasion (M, 242)
Being students we learn to use critical thinking skills when reading, analyzing or logiticizing theories and information. Understanding the point of view that is often left unspoken and unaccounted for is a strength in thinking critically yet due to the implied compliance to adapt to dominant views some students ability to think critically outside of those views are consequented in evaluations. Though their understanding of the subject matter or position is thorough, they do not comply with majority views in spite of the fact that their academic ranking is dependant on such. lnstead they are persuaded to hone in on their critical thinking skills and adapt accordingly. Perhaps Darwinism is the best explanation for those who thrive despite "powers" of majority groups.
