When i visited Jordan last summer, i have noticed various cultural norms that differ from our Canadian society specifically one in particular. Canadians are known to be very polite , but i think we are very "quiet". We are such a private society and i felt that the social networks, relationships and support is way stronger in countries in the Arab world. Everyone knows each and everyone knows about each other. There might be a lot of cons to that but i think that is what makes the such society healthier in a sense as i observed. We are more developed and advanced in almost every way in Canada yet countries such as Jordan have lower rates of mental illnesses. Our Canadian society is also in a sense very strict and regulated, while in Jordan things are more relaxed. There's still laws enforced of course but people there are not as paranoid about breaking the law as we are here. Although we are a free society, i felt people over there were more "natural" and not "calculated" in the way they acted.
